RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - A UK fan promised Willie Cauley-Stein that if the seven-footer returned to Kentucky next season, he'd get a special tattoo.
Well, Cauley-Stein says he'll be back with the Cats for his junior season and now the fan says it's time to get some ink!
WKYT’s Jordan Vilines has the story:
Permanently marked up and down Michael Gray's arms are just a few of his favorite things.
“I have tattoos of Daniel and Richard from the television show Lost—both of them are characters. I also have a tattoo of hieroglyphics from the show. I like Lost a lot,” Michael Gray explained to us on Tuesday.
But Gray’s love of the TV show "Lost" is equally matched with his love for UK basketball.
After the conclusion of this year's basketball season, he was hoping to add to his tattoo collection under one condition ---Willie Cauley-Stein would have to play at UK for another year.
“I said if he came back, I would get his face tattooed on me. I want to get it pretty big like the size of my hand at least.”
On Monday, Gray and the Big Blue Nation got their answer when Cauley-Stein tweeted that he would be coming back for his junior year, prompting Gray to follow up on his promise.
“I tweeted that I’m getting it done on Sunday and he tweeted it out. I feel like he probably thought it was a cool idea or otherwise he probably wouldn’t have retweeted it.”
Gray is still in the process of designing the tattoo and while some have criticized his decision, he says he can't wait to get his right leg inked up with a permanent portrait of his favorite player.
Gray says he's scheduled to get his Willie Cauley-Stein tattoo this upcoming Sunday.
