LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Kentucky WIldcats need quality wins to build a resume for the NCAA touranment, they'll have a chance to get one Tuesday night at Ole Miss. WIth a record of 17-2, 6-0 in the SEC, Ole Miss is now ranked No. 16 in the country by the Associated Press.
Coming off Saturday's 75-70 win over LSU, coach John Calipari is still looking for everyone to put it together at the same time. "All of a sudden Ryan (Harrow) was playing well and now it's almost like we got to play Jarrod (Polson). And then all of a sudden Archie (Goodwin) does fine and then he's taking bad shots. And then Alex (Poythress) not competing and now he's playing well."
Calipari said a lot has been thrown at his team but he's not making excuses. Kentucky has played the last three games without freshman WIllie Cauley-Stein, who underwent a procedure on his left knee. Calipari said he will make the trip to Oxford. "Questionable, I don't know. He'll probably try to convice me he's ready, so we'll see."
Kentucky will go into the game an underdog. Harrow said the pressure will be on the Rebels. "It's big for us but I think it's bigger for them, because they're the ones that are suppose to win. And if we come out there and beat them, ya know, it'll be a good thing for us. We just got to be ready to play and be physical."
The only teams to beat Ole Miss are Middle Tennessee and Indiana State. Marshall Henderson is the top scorer in the SEC averaging 19.2 points per game. Goodwin will probably guard him but Calipari wouldn't say Tuesday. "I don't know yet. We're trying to figure out how we'll play it and we did some stuff yesterday at practice. But he's gong to take 13 threes, whether you're on him, you're not on him, he's taking 13 threes."
Kentucky and Ole Miss will tipoff at 9:00pm. The game will be televised by ESPN.
