LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Blind since birth, a University of Kentucky junior has come up with a way to live like any other college kid.
For the last three years, Haden Pike's dad Brad has met him at his off-campus apartment, driven him to classes, and brought him back. For the father and son, the journey is better than the destination.
"I usually get up in the mornings long before he gets there and get ready and go through the everyday morning routine that everyone does. Things like that and then he'll show up," explains Pike, "depending on how long the class is he may stay here or he may go back to my apartment."
Dad Brad Pike will not let you call what he does for Haden a sacrifice.
"There's lot of days you don't want to get out of bed and come over, but I don't even know how to explain it. It's just what you do."
When Pike graduates next year, he hopes to pursue a master's degree, and possibly a doctorate.
