Trick or treat hours will find temps dropping through the 30s with gusty winds and some rain and snow filling the air. Wraparound band of snow moves in Friday night into Saturday morning across central and eastern Kentucky. That's the one that could drop some light accumulations on grassy areas and elevated surfaces.
The University of Kentucky has apparently told the football team its new coach will be Mark Stoops, Florida State's defensive coordinator.
UK players are tweeting messages of congratulations.
Among the first to tweet a message was sophomore defensive tackle Christian Coleman who said. "Congrats to coach Stoops, lets get back on track." Linebacker Bud Dupree also tweeted, "We welcome Mark Stoops as our head coach to the #BBN."
Stoops is in his 23rd season of coaching and his third year as Florida State's defensive coordinator and secondary coach.
Stoops came to FSU from Arizona, where he spent six seasons serving the Arizona Wildcats in the same capacity under his brother head coach Mike Stoops. He is also the brother of Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops.
"Stoops transformed Florida State's defense into one of the nation's best in 2011," according to Stoops' FSU biography. The season before he arrived FSU was ranked 108th in the country in total defense and scoring defense. The Seminoles moved to the top five by his second season. This season the Seminoles rank second in the country in total defense and seventh in scoring.
Stoops grew up in Youngstown, Ohio and is 45 years old. In addition to Arizona he's made previous coaching stops at Miami, Houston, South Florida and Wyoming.
The Tallahassee Democrat reports that Stoops is at Florida State today where the team is practicing for Saturday's Atlantic Coast Conference championship.
