UK releases statements from Calipari following loss to South Carolina

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – UK coach John Calipari wasn’t around to see the finish of his team’s loss at South Carolina. In the second half, Calipari picked up his second technical foul and was ejected.

After the loss, the coach sent assistant coach John Robic to the post-game interview room. UK said Calipari was doing his radio show.

After the game, UK released these quotes from Calipari:

“I wish I didn’t get thrown out of the game, so that I could fight with our team.”

“We have a short turnaround to prepare for Alabama, so we have to get back in the gym Sunday and start working on getting better.”

“Proud of the guys for not giving up, but we all have to figure out what do we each have to do to get this team right.”

We have to continue to believe in ourselves and each other, and I know our fans are fighting with us.”

With the 72-67 loss to South Carolina, Kentucky loses back-to-back games for the first time this season. The Cats lost to Arkansas in overtime on Thursday.
