UK stepping up police presence at home game

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Tailgaters and others attending the University of Kentucky's next home game will see a greater police presence in response to fights that broke out during Saturday's game with Western Kentucky.

Fayette County District Court records indicate that one fight resulted in a university police officer receiving a bump and a bruise when a blow between two men hit near the officer's eye.

The Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/QpPBXK ) says uniform citations show the two men were charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication, assault on a police officer and resisting arrest, and a court clerk said the men pleaded not guilty.

UK officials say the men aren't UK students.

University spokesman Jay Blanton says the university wants to make sure another such event doesn't take place and will step up police presence during the next home game, Sept. 29.
