UK student dies unexpectedly after taking a jog in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Just a few weeks from taking his MCAT to get into medical school, a UK student dies unexpectedly after a routine jog.

Jonathan Brigham, 21, just finished his junior year at UK, a pre-med, triple major.

One week ago Tuesday, friends say he was jogging in downtown Lexington when he went into cardiac arrest. He died not long after.

It turns out Brigham had a pre-existing heart condition that no one knew about.

"On Sunday, when I heard the news that he had passed away, it was just a lot to take in. It's still sinking in. I'm not sure if I believe it yet," Jonathan's friend, Nash Laungani tells us.

Friends say Brigham had already planned a trip to Spain to do some medical research this summer after taking his MCAT.
FUNERAL SERVICES FOR BRIGHAM WILL BE FRIDAY IN NORTHERN KENTUCKY.
