Our focus now turns to the potential of record lows tonight. Many areas may wake up to thermometer readings below zero.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Staying warm was definitely easier said than done for students at UK as they walked to and from class.
"Lots and lots of layers," said one bundled up student.
Another chimed in, "Right now I believe I have three shirts on, two pairs of socks. Just trying to keep on as much as I can."
"Long johns, hoodies, toboggans, everything helps," one student noted.
Those are just a few tips from students as they walked around campus on how they were trying to stay warm.
I spoke to UK officials, who say classes aren't canceled by the University often.
When it comes to the cold, and snow, UK says there is no magic number.
University administrators do look at temperatures and road conditions, though, and will adjust accordingly.
But that doesn't abate the disappointment that they didn't have an early weekend.
"Pretty disappointed. We've been disappointed all week though," said on UK sophomore.
"Oh, it's terrible. I wanted to cry," joked a university freshman.
