PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky Transportation Cabinet inspectors are checking an 84-year-old bridge over the Ohio River at Paducah.
According to The Paducah Sun, the inspection of the Irvin Cobb Bridge could take up to eight days to complete. The span carries U.S. 45 between Paducah and Brookport, Ill.
Because of the narrow deck width, traffic on the bridge is restricted to passenger cars and trucks that are no more than eight feet wide. The bridge was first opened to traffic in 1929.
