US 60 to be resurfaced; lanes, speed to be reduced

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Part of a major highway in central Kentucky will be resurfaced this year, which likely will lead to slower commute times for travelers.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports the road work will mean closed lanes and lowered speeds as people travel on U.S. 60 between Lexington and Frankfort.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says two stretches of the highway are being resurfaced this year - a 6.4 mile section in Woodford and Fayette counties and a 7-mile section in Woodford County.

Work is set to begin Monday on the first section, between Martha Layne Collins Blue Grass Parkway in Woodford County and New Circle Road in Fayette County. Work on the other section is set to begin in March.

Both projects are expected to conclude before the end of the year.
