LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK coach John Calipari said Tuesday hes made crazier statements than calling players "uncoachable." Calipari was referring to his comments on the bench and after Saturday's game at Tennessee.
Kentucky is preparing to play Vanderbilt in Rupp Arena Wednesday night. The Cats are coming off a 30-point loss at Tennessee, their first game without Nerlens Noel. Calipari has been trying all season to get his players to listen and raise the energy level. He's aware whatever he says resonates, like the president. "I make a statement and it's like, 'oh my gosh' the stock market starts to move. We have to close down borders."
Calipari didn't give any examples but he said hes made crazier statements in his career. "I've made some crazy statements, whoo, that was nothing. Saying a guy's not, you're not coachable because you won't listen, you won't listen to anything. When I was younger, ohhh, that was a very kind statement. So if you were close to me at that point, you would have said, 'I can't believe he says this.'"
Kentucky and Vanderbilt will tipoff at 8:00 p.m Wednesday night on WKYT. Coverage will begin with WIldcat Warmup at 7:30 p.m.
