Updated: Wed 12:48 PM, Jan 30, 2013

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - Interstate 64 has reopened after a semi jackknifed blocking the highway.

Emergency crews cleared the scene at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, after being closed for almost two hours. The westbound lanes were closed at the 101 Mile Marker at 8:00 AM after police say the semi lost control and jackknifed, blocking the highway and backing up traffic for drivers.

Drivers were detoured through US-60 at the 101 mile marker which caused some backups through out the county.

Officials say weather may have played a role in the accident, there were high winds and heavy rain at the time of the crash.

They are advising drivers to take it safe while on the road since wet weather can cause for wet roads and tough visibility.
