LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) Kentucky Utilities say they've had to shut down Walton Avenue in downtown Lexington on Tuesday morning, after a drunk driver crashed into a utility pole overnight.
The crash happened around 12:30 AM at Walton Avenue and Aurora Drive. Lexington police say they found the wrecked truck a few streets over, on Hanover. They have not made any arrests.
Kentucky Utilities has been on the scene since the crash, and say they have had to shut down the road in both directions, and cut power to 11 customers in the area in order to replace the pole.
Power to those customers should be restored by 8 AM, according to KU. They say Walton Avenue will be closed through the morning rush. This could prove challenging for parents who need to drop off students at nearby Ashland Elementary School.
