SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Many area fire departments are on the scene at a Scott County fire and have been trying to keep the fire under control for hours.

It's a scene you don't usually see in Stamping Ground. The streets lined with people as firefighters tried to control the smoke and flames.

The building is empty, but tonight it was filled with billowing smoke, flames, and what's left is now charred.

"It's the first time we've seen a big fire like this. It's a rarity down here. We don't here very many sirens or anything down here," said David Beach, who lives nearby.

From what fire officials can tell, it started on the second floor possibly in the attic of this once apartment building.

The fire also affected power lines nearby.

"I looked and I saw smoke, and I was like, 'Oh my God!' I mean it's just the black billowy smoke," said Beach.

And in this small town, it's a site to see with the road blocked off leaving some without a way to get home.

"Something as simple as the element of fire just knocks us back down, and we feel like such helpless beings," said Beach.

As for the cause of the fire, fire officials tell us it's too early to determine.

The Scott County, Georgetown, and Stamping Ground fire departments all helped battle this fire.

Fire officials tell us no one was hurt.

We will keep you updated as firefighters continue to investigate the cause of this fire.
