Police in Madison County are now trying to track down the person responsible for stealing a semi truck.
Last week, Richmond police say someone stole a wrecker from Barger's Tire and Auto Center. Now, state police are hunting for the thief of a second semi, taken from a tree service business in Berea. The owner of the semi says his business would suffer without it.
"We are at an absolute stop. That piece of equipment is what I use to load the grinder. It's a tub grinder that grinds up anything. It'll grind anything. It'll grind big chunks of wood, stumps, it makes compost wood dust, grinds it up real small," explained Charlie Evans, owner of Evans Tree Service.
Shortly after our story aired on WKYT at 5, a neighbor called Evans and was able to help him locate the abandoned truck.
Evans says it was sitting at the end of a drive, just a mile and a half away from his property. He's hoping he can fix it up and get it running again. He plans on using the truck to provide work for men wanting to get off the streets and into transitional living facilities.
