Our focus now turns to the potential of record lows tonight. Many areas may wake up to thermometer readings below zero.
On the heels of the success of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, Spotlight Lexington and WEG organizers, along with Keeneland, will host a Volunteer Appreciation Day at the races on Sun., Oct. 24.
Anyone who volunteered at the Games or at Spotlight Lexington will receive free general admission on Oct. 24 by presenting their official volunteer badge credential at any gate. Special festivities for the volunteers will be located at Keeneland’s North Terrace, complete with music, free burgoo and free soft drinks.
“The success of the Games was largely due to the huge volunteer army that selflessly gave of their time and talents,” said John Nicholson, Executive Director of the Kentucky Horse Park. “It simply would not have been possible without them. It is important to recognize them for their contributions and we felt that a day at the races, where they could sit back and enjoy horses without having to actually work quite as hard, might be a fun way to do it.”
