WKYT Crime Tracker Officer Don Evans addresses the string of robberies

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - There are now several unsolved robberies in north Lexington.

The Speedway on Paris Pike is where the latest robbery took place.

"He held us at gunpoint and told us to empty out the registers," says Aaron Hogan.

Hogan is relieved no one was hurt, but he's still in shock about what happened inside the store, while just talking to the clerk.

"I informed the guy that I didn't work there and still he proceeded to drag me around the counter at gun point," adds Hogan.

Hogan says the robber got away with cash from the register and his wallet.

While police look into the possible connection between some of these robberies, WKYT Crime Tracker, Officer Don Evans says that it's not uncommon for a robber to strike multiple times.

"Because they leave very little evidence behind unless there is video. But there's not a lot of physical evidence. And a lot of times they keep going until they get caught," Officer Don says.

Many victims, like Hogan say they won't be able to stop worrying until police have arrested the person or person responsible or these robberies.

"Kind of nervous really. I didn't know if it was real. I'm kind of shook up. I've never been through that before," Hogan says.

Officer Don says most clerks have training on how to handle these attacks, but he says it's also important for customers to be alert, "Just be aware when we drive by these places. Since we know there is this rash of robberies occurring right now. Look into the stores and if you see anything suspicious call the police. Especially before you go into a store like this. Look into the window and make sure everything is okay. Don't just walk in unaware."

If you have any information on any of the recent robberies, contact Lexington police.
