WKYT and Ale-8-One team up to hold Big Brother casting call

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- They traveled from near and far to pay a visit to our TV station here at WKYT Saturday morning, but it wasn't to be on the news. WKYT and Ale-8-One teamed up to bring a casting call for the CBS show, Big Brother here to Kentucky.

We spoke to some auditioning about why they think they have what it takes to make it on.

"This morning, well I came and waited on everybody," said Jeannie Burchett. "It was kind of like a ghost parking lot. I was the first one here.

"I drove over 80 miles to be here today," said Tamera Sanborn.

Organizers of the event say more than 150 people showed up for a shot at fame. And those in attendance say it's all about bringing your A-game.

"To be honest with you, I know I'm older than a lot of the people on Big Brother but I've got a lot of wisdom. I'm clever. I'm real outgoing. I've got a lot of snap, crackle, pop in me," Said Burchett.

"I think I would bring personality. I have a really sweet side but then I have a really mean side as well," said Sanborn. "So I can cut you but then bless your heart afterwards."

The spotlight shined on the hopefuls as they worked to convince those behind the camera they're deserving of a spot on the show.

"Oh I've got the wow factor. Well of course you know Kentucky is known for it's fast horses and wild women. I'm kind of like a wild woman!" said Burchett.

And now only time will tell if these folks who gave it their all will be on an upcoming season of Big Brother.

"We appreciate our sponsor Ale-8 who brought over 500 bottles to share and sponsor our event today," said Erin Graf of the WKYT sales department. "We hope to have people from central or eastern Kentucky to be on the Big Brother Show."

The casting director says the ones who will get picked are those who avoided the gimmecks and just were themselves.
