Warmer temperatures are on the way

Updated: Sun 4:53 PM, Jan 27, 2013

After a cool weekend, a warm front is lifting across the region and will usher in warmer temperatures on Sunday. Scattered rain with a few storms will pass into the overnight hours. Winds will also increase from the south.

Temperatures will reach into the mid 50s to start the week with partly sunny skies and periods of rain. Expect winds to gust to 25 mph. Tuesday will be warmer with a few showers and highs in the lower 60s, running about 20 degrees warmer than average. A cold front with Arctic temperatures will pass early Wednesday and strong storms can be expected. Some severe storms will be possible across the region. Rain may change to snow late Wednesday as the cold front moves east. Chilly weather returns for the rest of the week.
