LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A water main break is causing some traffic trouble in Lexington.
Police discovered the break on Versailles Road around 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Right now, the right inbound lane at the edge of Cardinal Hill is blocked. They expect the lane to be closed through rush hour, and possibly re-opened by 7 p.m. Wednesday night.
We're told the water main break has left area businesses, including Little Caesars and Liquor Barn, without water.
Our photographer on the scene says he can see water coming up out of the ground at three different places.
Ice is forming on the roadway due to the water, but so far, no accidents have been reported. Kentucky American Water tells us the break was 8" in diameter. They say the number of water main breaks are about the same as last year, at about 26 this month.
