A water main break in Lexington caused restaurants in Midway to operate under a boil water advisory.
The break happened Thursday afternoon and shut down Leestown Road in Lexington for hours, but Friday morning merchants in Midway found boil water advisories taped to their doors.
Kentucky American Water officials say the break was on their line, but the decision to have the advisory was by Midway Water. The break had caused one of their holding tanks to get low and that's what lead to the advisory.
Regardless of who called for the advisory, it requires a lot of extra effort on the part of Midway restaurant owners.
"We turned off the ice machine, had to purchase ice, bottled water, don't brew the tea. It's a major inconvenience," said Laura Wolfrum, owner of La Bistro Belle.
Kentucky American water officials say at no time we're any of their customers affected by the boil water advisory.
