WEST LIBERTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The West Liberty fire station is now up and running.
Volunteers held an open house Saturday to celebrate the new fire house.
Dinner, cake and door prizes were included.
City council members say they have been planning for a new station for years.. but were delayed even longer with the spring tornado damage.
“This has been a long journey to get this fire station here. Long before the tornado, we have been working for years to get this station up and going,” said city council member Belinda Jordan.
Volunteers gave tours of the new station and gear.
They say they are proud to call the new building home.
“We didn't have a lot of room to park everything and now we have a kitchen. We can come here and have dinner. We can have training sessions, it's our home,” said Fire Chief Brian Scalf
Fire fighters said they were glad to see so many people come to show their support.
