What it costs to follow Cats to Sweet 16 game in Indianapolis

If you're one of the thousands of fans planning to make the trek to Indianapolis for Friday’s UK vs. U of L game, you better be prepared to pay.

You’re going to pay big for a place to stay.

As of Wednesday morning, it appears that no hotels in downtown Indianapolis are showing any rooms available to any cost.

Many folks in Lexington are booking rooms southeast of the city in
Shelbyville. Including tax, the Holiday Inn Express was about $125.

The price of tickets are also going to set you back a pretty penny.

“Right now it's about $100 dollars a ticket just to get in that evening for the worst seats,” said Mike Peduto of Circle City Tickets.

Employees at the Indianapolis-based ticket company say ticket prices on the secondary market for the Kentucky-Louisville game are nearly double what they were for last year's tournament games.

But the steep ticket prices aren't slowing sales down.

“We understand all of the tickets are sold out. When they become hot commodities, people will become more likely to be duped into buying fake tickets or buying from someone who doesn’t have any tickets at all,” said Heather Clary with the Better Business Bureau.

Tickets for Friday’s match up are still available on sites like Stubhub and Craigslist but officials with the Better Business Bureau want to warn buyers what to watch out for.

“The main thing to remember is to buy from reliable sources. If you buy on individual websites like Craigslist you’re on your own, there’s no guarantee that you’re going to get what you’re paying money for,” Clary told WKYT.

So if you're going to shell out the big bucks to see the Cats play, just be cautious and remember that if the deal seems too good to be true-- it probably is.

If you're considering scalping a ticket, tournament officials in Indianapolis tell us scalping is legal there as long as it is not done on stadium grounds.
