LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK coach Mark Stoops says there's a good chance quarterback Jalen Whitlow will not be back for Kentucky's next game with Mississippi State. The Cats travel to Starkville October 24.
Whitlow went down with a sprained ankle on Kentucky's second offensive series Saturday against Alabama. "It was better today than it was yesterday, that's a good sign." said Stoops, speaking Monday night on his weekly radio show on the UK IMG Sports Network. "I'd say there's a good chance he'll be out at least this next game."
Stoops said trainer Jim Madaleno likes to have about 48 hours to evaluate the degree of a sprained ankle. Whitlow will be evaluated again Tuesday.
Max Smith replaced Whitlow at quarterback Saturday night. Stoops says sophomore Patrick Towles and freshman Reese Phillips will compete as the backup.
