LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (WKYT) - There's an outbreak of whooping cough at an Anderson County elementary school.
The superintendent's office tells us so far there have been five confirmed cases at Emma B. Ward Elementary.
The health department says all of the cases have been isolated to a single fifth grade classroom.
The superintendent says the school system has been working closely with the Anderson County Health Department and the state epidemiologist to monitor the situation.
The school system has sent home letters to parents informing of the confirmed cases and symptoms to watch for.
The health department will offer free vaccines on Friday to all fifth grade students.
