General showers will be the main action over the next few hours. A few could remain on the strong to severe side in eastern parts of Kentucky.
WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - Governor Steve Beshear joined company officials in Winchester on Wednesday morning to announce Catalent Pharma Solutions LLC is expanding operations, which will add 90 new jobs to the community.
The company is investing more than $35 million in the project. Catalent creates advanced drug delivery technologies and distributes them worldwide. The Winchester plant produces different types of over-the-counter and prescription drugs in tablet, capsules and powder.
To meet industry demands, the company is adding 80,000 square feet to its current facility on Enterprise Drive. To encourage this job growth, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority has approved $2 million worth of tax incentives for the company.
Catalent officials say the expansion will bring more business to Winchester and the Commonwealth as a whole.
"From our perspective this is really about a growth for Catalent, but also a growth for the local community and also for Kentucky," says John Chiminski, President & CEO of Catalent Pharma Solutions LLC.
Catalent expects to complete the expansion of this facility by October of next year. Company officials also say they expect to add an additional 100 jobs at the Winchester facility by 2016.
