Winchester grandmother gets life for killing daughter, granddaughter

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - A Clark County grandmother who admitted to killing her daughter and granddaughter now knows her sentence for the crime.

Judge William Clouse, Jr. sentenced Lillie Stanton to life in prison, without the possibility of parole. In January, Stanton pleaded guilty to two counts of murder, in order to avoid the death penalty.

Back on May 20, 2012, Stanton's ex-husband found the bodies of Danel Korrey Stanton, 23, and her daughter, 22-month-old Kaydence Ray Miers in their Vaught Road home. Their throats had been slashed. According to investigators, Stanton says she killed them because she was worried about the child's father getting more visitation with the toddler.

Members of the Stanton family were at the hearing, but no one wanted to comment on the sentencing.

Stanton remains the Clark County Detention Center. She will stay there until the state has a bed ready for her.
