Rounds of showers and storms continue to push across the region. Flash flooding is the main threat tonight into Wednesday.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Our thoughts haven't changed much from earlier. Timing means everything! Just like so many other weekends we have seen this winter it will be a split weekend. That means fairly pleasant weather for Saturday and nasty stuff on Sunday.
Let's the get the positive in first, since it will be pretty brief. Saturday will likely include a mix of sun and clouds with temps climbing into the low and mid 50s. A very nice day!
Once we go past midnight and into Sunday we'll begin watching the western skies for the potential of rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow. This will begin as a period of cold rain on Sunday morning. As we progress through the day and into the afternoon hours we'll watch the mixing line come crashing into our area. Timing is still very questionable at this point. Just know that the afternoon and evening could feature a solid chance of freezing rain and sleet. It could even be slightly earlier.
The snow will come in on the tail end of this system. We could potentially throw down a few inches of snow on top of the ice accumulation. We'll have updates all weekend long!
