Winter makes a dramatic return

Updated: Thu 9:58 AM, Jan 31, 2013

Our spring fling is coming to an end this evening as arctic air spills back into the bluegrass state. Gusty showers will continue this evening and will end as snow showers and flurries later today. That's when temps drop into the middle 20s. That dramatic drop may lead to slick spots on area roads.

A clipper works in from the northwest later Thursday and Thursday night. Light snow will break out from northwest to southeast and this will lead to a light accumulation for many. Highs Thursday will range from the upper 20s to low 30s.

A big time blast of cold moves in behind this system for Friday. Temps will struggle to get much past 20 degrees as gusty winds whip up some snow flurries.

Another light snow maker moves in on Saturday.
