Wintry weather causes crashes in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The wintry weather caused several problems on Lexington roads Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.

Police worked several crashes due to slick roads, but luckily, there were no serious injuries. However, some side roads were a bit tricky into the noon hour.

Lexington police and fire responded to a handful of accidents into the morning, two of them were just a block away from each other on Douglas Avenue, and Georgetown Street. One driver was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Weather is also being blamed for another accident overnight on Newton Pike. Police say a driver lost control on the wet roads and crashed into a pole. Thankfully, he was not hurt.

Crews do plan to continue treating the roads as needed. They still say it's best to take your time as you make your way through town.
