Lexington woman accused of forging checks

A woman accused of taking thousands of dollars from an elderly couple she cared for, is now in jail.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington police took Kathleen Howard into custody at police headquarters after she was accused of stealing thousands of dollars from an elderly couple she cared for.

According to her arrest citation, Howard was a caregiver for two adults in their 70's who need help with their daily activities.

Howard later admitted to police that she took the victims' checks and forged them. Police said she forged 29 of the checks, totaled around $4000.

She is charged with knowingly exploiting an adult and criminal possession of a forged instrument.

She will be arraigned on the charges Tuesday afternoon.
