A woman is facing more than a dozen charges after police say she led them on a high-speed chase with a child in her car.
Barbourville City Police arrested Ivory Melas, 28, Saturday night. Police say Melas was a suspect in a shoplifting at WalMart.
When they tried to pull her car over near the store, police say she wouldn't stop. They say Melas led them on a chase for miles, nearly hitting a tractor-trailer at one point.
The chase ended when police say Melas hit a Knox County deputy's cruiser head-on.
The child is now with social services.
Melas is charged with wanton endangerment, theft, and DUI among other charges. She is listed in the Knox County Detention Center.
