LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A woman will answer to charges Tuesday afternoon that she intentionally ran over a man in a gas station parking lot.

Shamecko Howard, 27, is charged with assault and tampering with physical evidence. Lexington police say Howard hit Chris Mayfield, 25, early Sunday morning at South Broadway and Angliana Avenue.

Mayfield's family says he witnessed a fight between Shamecko and a man, when they say Shamecko targeted Mayfield.

His family says Mayfield, who's from Louisville, was in town to visit his sister who attends UK. Now they say Mayfield is in critical condition at UK hospital and is barely responsive.

Howard is due in court in Lexington at 1:00 pm on Tuesday.
