Woman charged with murder in 2013 crash faces new DUI charge

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - A little more than a year ago, Clark County sheriff's deputies worked a devastating crash that killed 25-year-old Britta Richmond. Months later, Holly Britz, who the sheriff says was driving one of the cars, was charged with murder.

"Toxicology showed that she was under the influence of prescription drugs and narcotics," said Clark County Sheriff Burl Perdue.

Britz has been out on bond awaiting trial. On March 6, deputies were called out to a bad wreck on Irvine Rd.

"Well, it was surprising who it was. Found Ms. Britz in the car and she did have some severe injuries," Perdue said.

The sheriff says Britz was airlifted from the scene. According to her arrest citation, a deputy says Britz admitted to the flight nurse that she'd taken Percocet.

"There was some prescription bottles in the car," Perdue said.

Britz was released from UK Hospital Monday. From there, deputies took her to the Clark County Detention Center. The county attorney says a judge revoked her bond and charged with with contempt, in addition to a new DUI charge.

Toxicology work from this wreck is pending. Britz declined WKYT's interview request from the jail.
