Heavy rain will be the issue through the first half of the day. Significant snow & sleet will be the call during the afternoon through tomorrow. Look for almost impassable travel in some spots tomorrow.
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- A baby that just couldn't wait to come into the world this morning ended up being delivered not in a hospital bed, but on the floor of the mother's neighbor's home.
April Richardson, 23, ran to her next door neighbor's home around ten o'clock on Monday morning, in the Eastland Mobile Home Court in Lexington.
The neighbors had never met before.
"She said, 'oh, my god my water broke,' and I looked at her and I said 'Sure enough, it did,'" neighbor Carolyn Gunter told us. "I said, 'what should I do?' So I called the ambulance."
911 operators told Gunter to lay the expectant mom down on the floor. And not long after ...
"Probably about five to six minutes later the baby was born," Gunter said. "Yeah, that short!"
She said, "The baby opened her eyes, looked at her mommy, then looked up at me."
Even though Gunter has never helped deliver a baby before, she has three children of her own.
The question now is, what's the baby's name?
"She said she don't know, but she should name it my name 'cause I helped her born it, don't you think?" Gunter said.
For two neighbors who had never spoken to each other before, they will have plenty to talk about now.
"What a day, what a day," Gunter said. "First time for everything, I guess."
We're told that the mother and her baby are both doing fine at UK Hospital.
