MT. VERNON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police say an investigation that resulted in hundreds of charges against a Rockcastle County woman took seven months.

"We're a small department here. There's eight men," said Mt. Vernon Police Assistant Chief Barry Adams. Police arrested Karen Mink last night on hundreds of charges.

"726 felonies ranging from unlawful access to a computer to misuse of computer information," said Adams.

But their work didn't end there.

"Five people worked on this. 182 citations in ten hours," said Adams.

Police said they had to hand write each citation because their electronic system wouldn't accept that many charges. Police say Mink was an employee at Cash Express in Mt. Vernon and used customer names to cash fraudulent checks totaling more than $40,000 on the business. The Cash Express owner tells us no customer information was breached during the alleged crime. At the courthouse, Mink didn't have much to say.

Questions to her about the allegations were met with silence, though others backed her up.

"She's innocent until proven guilty," said a family member.

Police are still searching for another woman they say was involved in the crime, Assistant Chief says his hand is still recovering from the first round of citations.

"All of which are signed by me," said Adams

When asked how his hand was, he simply said, "Sore..."

Mink is out of jail on a $75,000 bond.
