Woman in court for locking children in daycare attic

Lorena Tuttle, the woman arrested for putting children in a daycare attic, is out of jail. She was in court Monday morning in Knox County, where she pleaded not guilty to 5 counts of criminal abuse.

Police say Tuttle exposed 5 children to terrible conditions at the Great Start Daycare in Barbourville. Authorities say the children were found in an attic, with temperatures over 100 degrees. Police also say the kids were alone, scared, and surrounded by nails, loose wiring, broken glass, and even dead animals.

Police found the children when they were responding to a complaint that the daycare was not licensed.
