Woman shoots at burglar

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office says a woman woke up Tuesday, around 4:30am, at her home on Hodge Road, to someone breaking into her home.

Deputies say the woman told them them a man had opened her bedroom window, and was almost half way inside, when she awoke, saw him, and fired a warning gunshot into the ceiling. She says he was startled and climbed back out the window.

When Sheriff's Sergeant Chuck Johnson got to the home he says he found 35-year-old Bobby Green hiding under the residence. Sergeant Johnson says Green refused to come out from under the home and had to be removed by force.

The Sheriff's Office says a deputy, Josh Scott, received a substantial injury to his hand and was treated and released from St. Joseph London. Deputies charged Green with Burglary 2nd, Resisting Arrest, and Public Intoxication.
