Man arrested after woman's body found on Montgomery County farm

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - On Sunday, investigators made a gruesome discovery when they uncovered a woman's body buried near a Montgomery County farm.

For weeks, crews scoured acres of Montgomery County's foothills and farmlands trying to find any small clue to answer the big question--- what happened to Kyla Kline the day she disappeared?

But early Sunday morning, “We located a body that we believe to be the missing lady out of Winchester,” said Montgomery County Sheriff Frank Shortridge.

Investigators uncovered a young woman's body located in a wooded area off Prewitt Grassy Lick Pike.
They’re identifying that woman as Kyla Kline but an official autopsy will have to be performed before they can be 100% certain of the identity.

“The information the detective gave us is pretty consistent with the clothing she was wearing on that day,” the sheriff told us.

When we talked with Kline’s family several weeks ago, they told us that earlier this month the 25-year-old went for a walk near her Winchester home and never returned.

“We do know communication stopped between her friends and family on July third,” the sheriff said.

Officials believe Kline and the man accused of murdering her had a relationship and they say July third, the two met up in Winchester. After that, they say he took Kline to the farm and they believe that was the last time she was ever seen.

“I believe that when she got here on July third, which we know for a fact, I don't think she ever left.”

Just hours after uncovering Kline’s body, police arrested the man they believe is responsible, 39-year-old Lonnie Martin of Stanton.

He is charged with murder and is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Center.
