Work to reopen road after water main break nearly complete

Ashland, Ky. (WKYT) - Workers continue to make repairs to a broken water main in Ashland.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says at least one lane of U.S. 23 could reopen by evening rush hour on Thursday.

City officials say water line repairs are now complete and paving contractors are repaving travel lanes.

They expect all lanes to reopen later on Thursday night.

Until travel lanes reopen, detours will remain in effect.

All cars and local traffic are being rerouted along 39th and 45th streets.

Commercial trucks and other vehicles must detour using I-64 and U.S. 60.

Message boards have been placed in the area to guide motorists.

Statewide travel information and assistance is available by calling 511 or logging onto the 511 website.
