Worker at Lexington grocery store dies after fall

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Fayette County Coroner tells us the worker has died, after falling from a ladder at the Fresh Market grocery store in the Landsdown Shoppes.

The worker has been identified as Christopher M. Holt, 25. He was pronounced dead at the UK Medical Center Tuesday afternoon.

The coroner's report says Holt fell from the second rung of the ladder, after suffering an acute cardiac event. The report says Holt knowingly had a pre-existing cardiac condition. The cause of death was ruled as a Myocardial Infarction, with secondary blunt force trauma from a fall. His death is being ruled as accidental.

A worker at a Lexington grocery store was rushed to a hospital Tuesday afternoon after falling from a ladder.

It happened around two p.m. at the Fresh Market on Tates Creek Road in the Lansdowne Shoppes.

A store employee tells us the man was stocking and putting away supplies on a ladder and fell around 20 feet inside the store. That witness says he turned around and found his coworker on the floor motionless. He says he then dialed 911.

Firefighters tell us he was rushed to UK Hospital with serious injuries.

We do not know the identity of this injured worker or have an update on his condition.

Employees and managers will not comment on camera about the accident. They referred us to corporate who have not contacted us back yet.
