Young Pike County girl, battling brain tumor, gives blankets to homeless

PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - It was 9-year-old Destiny Bevins' Christmas wish -- to help the homeless.

On Monday night, that wish came true.

Destiny is dealing with a brain tumor, but still wanted to give blankets to the homeless.

She received some donations, and Monday night, Destiny handed out more than 20 blankets to people at the WestCare Homeless Shelter in Pikeville.

The people there say they're grateful for her gift.

"This is going to be my Lynus blanket, I'm going to keep it forever, its going to go with me where ever my travels take me," said John Ruth, a WestCare resident.

Destiny says she wants to go back to the homeless shelter in a few weeks to make Christmas dinner for the people there.
