Zimmerman trial gets underway

SANFORD, Fla. (AP) - Opening statements begin today in the murder trial of George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch volunteer who says he shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in self-defense.

Jurors will be sequestered, which the prosecution and defense say is necessary to eliminate jurors' exposure to outside influences.

They'll be able to read newspapers that have been censored of anything dealing with the case.
