There has been an outpouring of support for more than a hundred dogs rescued from a filthy Casey County home.

The dogs were brought to area shelters, and many already have foster homes.

Wednesday afternoon, a group of the Casey County dogs were put up for permanent adoption at the Lexington Humane Society. NEWSFIRST was there when the first two dogs hit the adoption floor.

A little groggy from getting spayed and neutered, the two puppies were ready for new homes.

They were Jester, a male beagle mix, and Symphony, a female hound mix.

"I'm a huge animal lover," said shelter visitor Emily Millsaps, "I just don't see how anyone could treat an animal like that."

When Millsaps heard about the horrible conditions the dogs came from, it inspired her to adopt.

"We saw the Casey County dogs on the news," said Millsaps, "I was like why not adopt a dog, maybe give it a new home."

Although, it was another dog that caught her eye.

"He was a stray so he's just as fortunate to get a new home as a Casey County dog," said Millsaps.

The shelter has been flooded with calls and people like Millsaps, who want to help.

Several other Casey County dogs are still in the intensive care unit at Lexington's shelter because of surgery and illnesses.

While many of the dogs are recovering, officials with United Rescues of Kentucky, which is overseeing the rescue operation, say another dog died Tuesday night due to illness.

That brings the total deaths since the weekend, to three.

In all, 110 dogs and a pot-belly pig were rescued from the home. The pig has already been adopted.

The animals' owner, Cheryl Turner, has been cited for animal cruelty and is due in court August 24th.
