He bought a bouquet of roses for his wife for mother's day but a Garrard County man says he got a lot more than he bargained for.

Steven Garland says he found a giant beetle hidden in the flowers.

The South American Hercules beetle is nearly five inches long, has as horn on its head, legs that can sting if you get too close, and red fur all over its body.

"I didn't quite know what to do. had never seen anything that big before", says Garland.

After the initial shock, he figured out what to do with the bug. He's donating it to the University of Kentucky for scientific research. He says that's about all he can do with it, because his wife won't let it stay at their home.

I know what I would have done with it-I would have shot the bug with a double barrel shotgun and then I would have torn my husband apart limb by limb for giving me the flowers. Then I would have sat down and cried from being so frightened by a 5" bug covered with fur with a horn protuding from it's head.....EWWWW....YUCK!! **SHIVER**

Do you seriously have nothing better to report on? The "mother" in question doesn't even have kids.
