A Berea family is devastated after vandals destroy their loved one's grave site.
The grave of Madison County man Bill Johnson is tucked in the woods on Burnt Ridge road in Berea.
His family members created the makeshift grave there because that's where the retired marine spent countless hours hunting for mushrooms.
Johnson's daughter found the memorial desecrated this weekend. Flowers were scattered, the U.S flag was damaged and the vandals even destroyed a picture of Johnson on a grave marker.
The family members of Johnson say they are devastated, but they say they'll rebuild the memorial. When they do,they're begging the vandals to never do it again.

This is very sad, probably a bunch of teenagers, but I have said it many times over there needs to be more for the youth in Berea to keep them occupied. Being a former resident and having children grow up there I know there isn't much for them to do.

It's sad that people would do something so pitiful. I just hope that they don't get the favor returned to them
