A bridge has landed one Kentucky city in hot water with the state Department of Transportation.
Morehead officials admit they built the bridge on state owned land without the commonwealth's permission. State officials also say that the bridge is structurally unsafe.
But Morehead Mayor David Perkins claims the bridge issues are all due to a mix-up, but the mistake could cost taxpayers a lot of money. He says the organization that did the leg work for the bridge claims it was in contact with state officials every step of the way. He feels any permits, or structural requirements not met were purely due to a mix-up.
The mayor says in order to bring the bridge up to standard, the city of Morehead will likely shell out the money, if and when state officials allow it.

I honestly think the bridge was a complete waste of tax payers money in the first place. Now they want to "do whatever it takes" to open it?? That just dosent' make much sense to me. But seeing as it is already built, I feel like the state could donate this small piece of land to keep us from wasting even more of our taxes. Maybe then we could use the money for the little things like education.
