Police say they're following up on several leads as a UK student fights for his life.

Police say Blair Smith was hit in the head with a bottle during a fight on Aylesford Place just off of campus. It happened late Saturday night after the UK football game.

Smith's friends say there were several parties on Aylesford Place that night.

Police have not made any arrests, nor have they named a suspect.

Smith is at the University of Kentucky Hospital in critical condition. Friends say he's undergone surgery to try to repair some of the damage from that attack.

I've known this guy since he was five. I find it interesting that so many people have so much to say about "lessons" and b/s of that manner while Blair is struggling. Keeping your mouth shut just as the a-h that did this would be a good idea for you. Such ignorant people. 18-25 year-olds are not KIDS. If they were, oh, well why are we making huge contributions to the ignorant people's social security??

I heard on the radio news that he was defending some of his friends after racist comments were thrown their way. To those of you that have nothing nice to say, just please shut up. You don't know the facts so quit with the ignorant comments.

i think this situation shouldnt be analyzed, it is what it is regardless of whose story is right. He is still in critical condition and needs all the prayers and support he can get. please dont judge people, Blair couold be on his death bed, no matter how the fight started the outcome remains the same. i pray for you blair, you and your family and friends

Blair, may God be with you and your family. My prayers go out to you. I hope those who caused so much pain to you are watching the news and feel ashamed of themselves; may it rest on thier conscience forever.

Wow, I never thought you all would be bickering over such stupid things! This is a young male who is very well on his death bed and needs every prayer and support possible! Until you all know the story, stop judging him and college students!

Dave, Stupid comment. Don't get me wrong, I pray that Blair is OK, but do you think that there might be more to the story? Do you think that maybe, just maybe, the story coming from the mouths of Blair's friends might be skewed?!? Just a thought.

I hope and pray he will be ok. Also pray that they catch the ones that did this to him.

I say legalize marijuana and outlaw alcohol, how many potheads you ever see get angry and start a fight? Unless they're fighting over the last dorito, not much chance at all. But everytime you put a drink in a large proportion of people, they're ready to fight or start trouble. Should say something about both of these drugs (and yes, alcohol is every bit as much of a drug as marijuana) and their effects on people.

Nothing good ever came from alcohol. I pray this young man recovers from his injuries and that all UK students will find something to do to make them happy besides trying to drink everything away. They will soon find (if they live through college) that drinking alcohol only masks your problems, but the next morning, they're still there waiting on you.

As a former student of UK, this hits close to home. I had a fraternity brother hit in the head with a bottle, but only required stitches. To Sue: "I hope he . . . has learned a valuable lesson," is a statement that come from nothing more than ignorance. That statement implies that college "kids" (as you call them) go out and look for bottles to smash over their faces. To Dave: That's a great solution. Let's all just carry bricks around to get even. Another ignorant statement.

There is to much for college kids to get into now!! there are always prices to pay. I hope he will be okay, and has learned a valuable lesson>

Well, if they do find this guy I say that we let a few of this poor kids friends hit him in the face with bricks. Some people are just leeches on society. Thoughts and prayers go out to this young man and especially to his family.

Blair and his family and friends are in my prayers. This is just such a shame. We all should not only pray for peace, but treat those we come in contact with like we want to be treated.

He and his family will be in our prayers.

College kids party all night after football games, get drunk and get stupid. This poor kid may have to pay for that kind of stupidity with his life. He and his family are in my prayers.
