Two survivors of a crash in Russell County remain hospitalized Saturday evening.
A Kentucky State Police news release identified to two killed as 28-year old Candace Elaine Johnson, originally of Blackwater, Va., and her three-year old son Kaden Johnson. The KSP news release indicates the two were residents of Bowling Green, but no address was listed.
The accident occured around 4:30 p.m. The two victims along with passengers Christian Johnson, age 5 and Logan Bruner, age 8 months, were transported to U. K. Medical Center where Candace Johnson and Kaden Johnson were declared dead. The cause of death is listed as "multiple blunt force trauma."
The news release says victim Kaden Johnson and passengers Christian Johnson and Logan Bruner were all seat belted and/or in child restraint devices.
The KSP news release says the car driven by Candace Elaine Johnson was traveling east on the parkway when she apparently lost control, veered across the median into the west-bound lanes of the parkway, and was struck in the passenger side by a vehicle operated by 40-year old Joseph Matthew Dalton, age 40, of Russell Springs.
As of noon Saturday, the U. K. Medical Center listed Christian Johnson in serious condition and Logan Bruner as critical, according to a spokeswoman.
Dalton was not injured, according to the KSP.
