March Madness Not So Exciting Without UK

March Madness is officially here and that means you either are, or know someone (or know someone, who knows someone) who's filling out a NCAA Basketball tournament bracket.

But this year, fewer people in Lexington seem to be taking their chances at predicting the results of the tournament. One big reason could be because the University of Kentucky Basketball Team isn't a part of the action.

The proof is in the pudding at the Baldani, Rowland & Richardson Law Firm. The firm runs one of the biggest bracket pools in the city and the numbers are down.

Normally 500 to 600 people would fill out a bracket by hand or online through the firm's pool. But this year, that number is down to around 300.

Russ Baldani says enthusiasm is down because UK is not even getting a chance at the big dance.

Surely this news item is completely factual. I am certain that the sagging economy has nothing to do with the people in Kentucky being unable to place a bet on the NCAA tourney:)

To Michelle: Great comment! To: Michael: Not every UK fan is stupid. Please think before you write. Your comment is trash talk as well. Does it matter what the subject is? Trash talk is trash talk, if you do not like it, then please refrain.

Definition: Excitement - 1. a. The act or an instance of exciting. b. The condition of being excited. 2. Something that excites: Rick Patino's Louisville Cardinals; The thought of Rick Patino returning to the UK Wildcats. (The last example is also used in the definition example of pleasant dreams.) Is there anything else that needs to be cleared up?

This title and story is a perfect example of the arrogance of Kentucky fans and the spinelessness of the UK Athletics Administration to stand up to them. Keep pandering to the fans and fearing a few empty seats, a few less bucks because of cancelled season tickets instead of supporting the coach and team and this pattern will continue. People are already calling for Coach Gillespie's head. How ridiculous. If you were a true fan, you would stand behind your team and get off your ever-rightous pedastal (and boring) zero-tolerance for anything but a National Championship. Want some proof? You might notice the last 2 UK coaches have teams in the NCAA tournament. One left by choice realizing it was time to get out on top (knowing the fans) the other was shamelessly run out of town.

UK got exactly what they earned this year and to say that the entire tournament is "not as exciting" without them is ridiculous. Sounds like jealousy to me. Rick Pitino and Louisville have more than earned the success they are achieving and even the loyalist UK fan should recognize that. The same goes for Morehead and Western Kentucky. Have some respect for the rest of the state for a change because as long as Billy G is running the UK shouldn't expect to be dancing anywhere special next year either.

I'm a UK fan, not a stupid one at that. I don't seem to have a problem filling out my bracket. By the way, it's MARCH MADNESS. Go MSU EAGLES!!!

I totally disagree with the opinion that Marh Madness isn't exciting without UK. The state of kentucky has Western KY, Morehead State, UofL Men's and Women's basketball team in the NCAA tournament. How much more exciting can that be... This is definitely an exciting time for the state of KY. Too bad in Lexington the news is SO biased and one sided that all it seems to talk about is UK. People should be rallying in support of all KY schools in the NCAA Men's and Women's Tournament!

Are you kidding? This is great that we don't have to hear the stupid UK fans talking trash. Glad they aren't there.
